When we started BSU Mandiri, we never imagined our small neighborhood initiative would one day stand alongside inspiring regeneration projects from around the world.
What began in a simple garage in Subangjaya, Sukabumi City, Indonesia, has grown into a community-led effort to reduce waste, strengthen local participation, and build a circular economy from the neighborhood level.
Today, we are honored to be selected as one of more than 800 projects worldwide that applied to participate in Ma Earth Funding Round 3.
This recognition means a great deal to our community.
It shows that meaningful environmental action does not always begin with large organizations or significant funding. Sometimes, it begins with neighbors who decide to work together.
Every week, residents separate recyclable and organic waste, volunteers organize community collection activities, and local leaders support environmental education. Step by step, these collective efforts are helping reduce waste sent to landfill while creating a cleaner and more resilient neighborhood.
Being part of Ma Earth is not simply about fundraising.
It is an opportunity to share our story with people around the world who believe that regeneration starts within local communities.
The support received through this campaign will help us strengthen our next stage of development, including:
- expanding community waste separation
- improving neighborhood sorting infrastructure
- developing local compost production
- increasing environmental education
- supporting community-led regenerative activities
Regardless of the campaign outcome, this journey has already become an important milestone for BSU Mandiri.
It reminds us that even a small initiative from Indonesia can contribute to a global movement for regeneration.
