In an effort to strengthen community-based waste management capacity, the BSU Mandiri Waste Bank Unit (Bank Sampah Unit/BSU) team participated in the Upskilling Training on Waste Processing Facility Management organized by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in collaboration with GIZ Indonesia.
This training was designed to improve the competencies of waste processing facility managers so they can operate more professionally, efficiently, safely, and sustainably. Participants came from various regions across Indonesia and received materials that combined technical aspects, management, and strategies for developing waste processing facilities.
About GIZ Indonesia
GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) is an international cooperation agency owned by the Government of Germany that works in the field of sustainable development. In Indonesia, GIZ collaborates with various ministries, local governments, the private sector, and community organizations to support development in multiple sectors, including waste management and the circular economy.
Through its collaboration with Bappenas, this training aims to strengthen human resource capacity so that participants can develop waste management systems that are more effective, efficient, and sustainability-oriented.

- Data-driven decision-making for selecting waste processing technologies.
These materials not only provided theoretical understanding, but were also accompanied by case studies and worksheets that can be directly applied to waste management facilities in each participant’s region.
