Growing Together: Our First Collection Day in RW 9

Today marked an exciting milestone for BSU Mandiri as we carried out our very first community waste collection in RW 9, Subangjaya, Sukabumi City.

On this first collection day, 15 households participated by bringing their sorted recyclable materials. For a neighborhood that is just beginning its circular waste journey, this is an encouraging start and an important foundation for future growth.

What began as a community initiative in RW 14 is now gradually expanding to new neighborhoods that share the same commitment to reducing waste and protecting the local environment.

This expansion is supported through collaboration with the Subangjaya Urban Village Office and the HOMPIMPAH (Hobi Pilah Sampah dari Rumah) program, which encourages households to separate waste at home before collection. Every family that joins helps keep valuable materials in circulation instead of sending them to landfill.

For us, this work is about much more than collecting recyclable materials. It is about building trust, encouraging lasting habits, and showing that meaningful environmental change can begin one neighborhood at a time.

We are grateful to the residents of RW 9 for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation on this first collection day. We also thank our volunteers, community leaders, and local partners whose continued support makes this journey possible.

This is only the beginning, and we look forward to welcoming many more households as our community-led circular waste system continues to grow.
